Content Igniters Weekend Newsletter #1
Content To Ignite Your Thinking, Actions, Sales, Business
Hi there and I want to personally thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. It means a lot that you’ve trusted me enough to subscribe.
In this Issue #1 of the Content Igniters Weekend Newsletter, I’m sharing great posts by 3 of the professionals I’m connected with and follow on LinkedIn.
These 3 have successful businesses and careers and are highly effective at using LinkedIn the right way to build awareness for themselves and their brands, make sales, and teach us how to be better people in life and business.
I’m pleased to introduce you to, Andrew Kelley, III, James Clutterbuck, and Florian Decludt
Let me start by saying, you can’t get there from here - that is - you can’t get to where you want to be if you allow fear to hold you back.
So, are you standing in your fear?
By the way, being afraid isn’t a bad thing. Standing in your fear, or letting fear STOP you is the bad thing. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is moving forward in the face of fear.
With that in mind, the first post I’m sharing this weekend was written by Andrew Kelley, III on the topic of fear.
In his post, Andrew recommends you do a visualization of where you are a year from now.
Here’s what he wrote:
You didn't get here by being timid.
So how are you going to get there being afraid?
The answer is you're not.
Be bold.I want you to visualize where you are a year from now.
✍️ Who is surrounding you?
✍️ Why are you excited?
✍️ What are you doing?
✍️ How does it make you feel?
If you now have a mental picture of that and it's not what you're doing right now then I only have one last question.
What are you going to do about it?
The lesson?
Action is required to achieve anything you want in life. I encourage you to do that type of visualization regularly. It helps to keep you centered and focused on your goals and I believe you’ll continue being a DOER.
I encourage you to follow and connect with Andrew Kelley on LinkedIn.
Next up, James Clutterbuck wrote a great post “My LinkedIn Salt Of Truth,” where he highlighted 10 truths he’s learned 3 years into using LinkedIn to grow his business to >1 million GBP of turnover.
Here is what he shared:
Some salty truths…
I’m now 3 years into using LinkedIn to grow our business and in that time I’ve produced:
- 2000 + pieces of content
- 15 million + views & 300k +engagements
- 2000+ leads & 350 bookings from 125 clients
- £1 million + of business & built an events company from 0 in that time through covid.
-Built “personal” & 2 recognised business brands
So I’ve done ok and kinda know what I’m doing as far as selling a niche high-end premium service is concerned.
Here are some things I’ve learned. Feel free to disagree. But bring facts if you do!
➡️Broadly speaking your reach on posts is directly linked to your ACTIVE connection / follower numbers.
➡️Most people do not sell or promote what they do enough because they have become too addicted to view numbers & engagement on personal posts.
➡️Most clients are lurkers. Many follow you for months never engaging but someone important to your future self is always watching.
➡️Being an attractive female is a distinct advantage. Scientific fact - sex sells as a concept is as old as the hills because it works.
➡️Using humour is very powerful. But it’s also the hardest sort of content to nail.
➡️Outbound DMs 100% do work when done well. Pay no attention to those who scream they don’t or the offended Karens. Amateurs.
➡️There are no shortcuts and how the “algorithm” works is largely irrelevant. The main two important factors to achieving sales are - quality of content allied to consistency over time.
➡️ “People do buy people” - BUT - this is only one of about 17 different factors why people/ businesses may buy from you. Don’t forget the other 16 which are less sexy.
➡️I produce 8-10 posts a week - the types of content I try to hit with these are - 2x buy my stuff, 2 x content about my stuff, 3 x funny/ humour, 2 x business / serious. 1 x personal get to know me. I also comment on 10-20 posts a day. This works for me.
➡️Other flavours of ice cream are available. But what is always true is you can’t please everyone and nor should you want to.
That’s about enough - I hope you’ve found some crystals of salt to flavour your LinkedIn experience….
See what I did there?
I highly recommend following James on LinkedIn. You’ll have a laugh, and you’ll learn a lot about marketing, business, and life. James will make you think.
And finally for this weekend, on the topic of Why Most New Creators Struggle On LinkedIn, Florian Decludt laid out 3 common mistakes new creators make.
He wrote:
1. They don't have a goal.
What are you trying to achieve via your content?*Are you building awareness?
*Are you trying to make sales?
*Are you still testing out several niches?Any of the above is fine.
You just need to have a clear goal when you start.
So that you have clarity about what you need to do.
2. They chase views.
They create polls because the algorithm likes them. They post empty content to get lots of likes and comments. That's a great way to get views. But it won't help you sustain success on the platform long term. Value creation will.
3. They're not consistent.
LinkedIn is a long-term game. You're not going to win it in just a week or 2.
No, if you want to win the LinkedIn game you need to:
- Post consistently
- Engage consistently.
That's the only way to get noticed and build an engaged audience.
Remember: Those 3 mistakes will ruin your content creation efforts.
Focus on:
- Having a clear goal for yourself
- Providing massive value through your content.
- Be consistent in your activity.
That's how you make it happen here (on LinkedIn).
Agree?
Make sure you follow Florian Decludt on LinkedIn. You’ll learn so much about building your brand and business without having to spend any money on advertising.
Watch what Florian does, learn from him, and take action.
That’s it for this weekend, and to sum up, remember what Andrew, James, and Florian have taught us this week about overcoming fear and succeeding on LinkedIn.
Visualize where you want to be a year from now, really see it, feel it, hear it, taste it, and smell it. Once you’ve got that vision and if you realize your current situation in life isn’t helping you get there, ACT NOW and make the needed changes. Andrew Kelley, III
